Comments Thread For: Usyk's 12-Month Plan To Ruling The Heavyweight Division

After having spent the last year cleaning out the cruiserweight division, Oleksandr Usyk is now prepared to leave it behind for good. The undisputed cruiserweight king and BoxingScene.com 2018 Fighter of the Year will make his heavyweight debut this coming May in the United States. The move is not at all uncommon among past cruiserweight champions, although the plan for Usyk has lofty goals-and an accelerated timetable-for his move up the scale.

I heard the rumor in NY that Bryant Jennings is the frontrunner to face Usyk.

When Usyk beats the crap out of Jennings I hope he becomes a heavyweight atg based solely off that win like luis ortiz has

Hmm I wonder if Usyk's good footwork will be gone when he's 20 pounds heavier.

Usyk vs Joe Joyce in WSB has some clues

Granted Joyce was terrible back then but Usyk wasn't able to move as much but handled trading with a bigger man very well.

Shyt, he can't stay too stationary against the big hitters. He might want to enter the ring at 210, 215 tops for this journey.

USYK will destroy the slow Joyce at heavyweight.
Joyce is a knock out waiting to happen.

20 pounds heavier and a reach on average 6 inches shorter than most of the top HWs.

He needs to follow the Holyfield blueprint. Fight about 5-6 contenders before taking a shot at the title. Needs to get accustomed to the weight and the strength and power of the fighters.

Needs to come in at whatever he enters the ring at for cruiser. Can't pack on too much weight. He needs to do alot of strength building which may put on a little weight but he needs to stay limber and explosive.

                    210, 215 tops
