No child should be getting an adult sentence. He should be tried, but not as an adult. US is the only country in the world that did not ratify to UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is not just embarrassing, its medieval..

He's not being tried as an adult. If he was 14 or older, he could get sentenced to death because Texas is a Death Penalty State.

At 12 you have a different comprehension of the consequences and the nature of your actions. You know, its called being "a child". And 12 is a child. I´m sure the 12 year old is from a Mexican gang. The initiation is around 11-12 to the so called "pewees" to move in the gang ranks. I may be wrong but as Mexican I know this is common.

This is what 12 and 13 year olds are getting into. I know because i worked in the juvenile detention center with young murderers, attempted murderers and rapists who had no remorse at times. And be with other kids their age, running a train on other girls their age. What would you do with this kid? 2-5 years and probation?.......
