And if a 2 year old does that, should he also get 40 years? Or is it too soon? So, where do you draw the line? At 12 you have a different comprehension of the consequences and the nature of your actions. You know, its called being "a child". And 12 is a child. How does your country do it? This child wasn’t taught to respect other people and property. It’s going to be hard to unteach that core belief that has been in him since birth. I hope the system finds him a place to learn respect and teach him a useful skill once he’s released to the public.
