Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman - Twenty-Two Months Later

By Cliff Rold - Just shy of twenty-two months ago, it could be argued a leader of the post-Floyd Mayweather years at welterweight was emerging. Compelling, consecutive wins over a once-beaten Shawn Porter and then-undefeated Danny Garcia, saw WBA titlist Keith Thurman add the WBC belt to his mantle and push himself into some of the pound-for-pound conversations...

He’ll probably fight Andre Berto after Lopez. Then a rematch with someone he beat already.

We'll see, but I have my doubts. He was already talking about possible retirement not long after this layoff began, he's going to be very rusty and there's no guarantee that he's not going to re-injure himself. Plus, I actually thought he was a little overrated even when he was still active - he has those wins over Porter and Garcia but both times he honestly sc****d by - personally I thought he should have lost to Porter. He might have had a claim to being the top dog in 2017 but the lay of the land has honestly changed quite a bit since then.

Dude calls himself champ when he hasnt fought in TWO years.

I cant believe a 40-year-old senator is more active than him.

            What a time!

I hope they don't, Thurman will just stay away from the Pacman even if he is the bigger man, it's just his style. It will be more exciting to see Pacman vs spence-garcia winner. Porter, his former sparring partner, will not be ideal as well, he will be caught rushing in.

If Thurman turns up to fight with his hairstylist and beautician in his corner then you know he is not thinking about boxing long term.
