Joe calzaghe would make it look easy but the scorecard would make it look a bit more closer.

Canelo would get taken apart...wayyy too much size and ability. Calzaghe could do pretty much whatever he wanted with Canelo, that southpaw jab would do Canelo some damage.

Calzaghe got stick for his punch technique, but if you look past that, he could do A LOT of things well in a boxing ring

Calzaghe is much, much better and much bigger and on top of that has a huge style advantage.

I don’t think it looks as bad as Lacy because Canelo can defend better but it would be around 120-108x3 on fair cards. In Vegas there would maybe be one or two cards that go 117-111. I wouldn’t rule out a stoppage but I think Canelo is savvy enough to go into a shell and Joe would just then have a bit of fun like the Jones fight.

If everything was fair, Calzaghe would win on points but given Canelo's star status and apparent inability to lose on points I would give it to him.

No way Calzaghe beats Canelo by KO or stoppage

I'm taking Calzaghe in that fight because Canelo is still unproven at 168.

Americans don't give Joe the credit he deserved to be honest and that's a shame , I guess taking Roy apart infront of the home crowd didn't sit well with them , note that Hopkins went on to be a force in boxing after his loss , and they always forget to give him credit for taking the 0 from Kessler , Canelo has some big ass asterisks next to his biggest win in MW , I give him very little chance against one of the best (if not THE best) SMW ever.
Not to mention styles , Joe will be a nightmare for Canelo , how would he win rounds ? Joe is not a golovkin kind of fighter that just marches forward into Canelo`s counters.

TLDR - Joe wins , and does it easily.

                      Calzaghe.

I don't think Canelo is really a super middleweight anyway. Beating domestic level Rocky Fielding isn't really proving a lot.

I do actually think Canelo can compete in today's 168 division as there's no really excellent fighters, or none that have proven it yet. But i think in other era's, it would be a stretch to fight the guys like Calzaghe or Ward. They were good enough to make the size difference show.
