Comments Thread For: Curtis Stevens Heading To 154: Eyes Hurd, Lara, Harrison, Munguia

Brooklyn puncher Curtis Stevens has set his sights on a move down in weight, as he eyes up some of the big names at 154 pounds. Stevens, who shared a ring with fellow knockout artist Gennady Golovkin, is well known to those inside of New York and is recognised within boxing circles as one of the most talented fighters within New York.

      Re

Vs Hurd: good get-him-before-he-gets-you slugfest. I just see Stevenson being the one to get GOT

Vs Lara: difficult fight for Stevenson. Lara can move, and make it very difficult for Stevenson to find him, en route to a shutout UD.

Vs Tony Harrison: Harrison can win a fight without even fighting. That's how good he is . Seriously, if Stevenson can take into deep waters, he has a great chance of knocking out Harrison

Vs Munguia: I'm still uncertain about Munguia. Nobody is sure of his chin, because it hasn't been tested. He's always the bully in the ring, steamrolling his opponent. It'll be an exciting brawl, thats for sure.

Why hasn't he done it since mentioning it here in December 2017?

The last time boxing fans saw Curtis Stevens (29-6, 21 KOs) back in March, he was on the receiving end of a brutal knockout loss at the hands of former world champion David Lemieux at Turning Stone Casino in New York. The next move for Stevens could take place at the junior middleweight division, according to trainer Andre Rozier.

A fight with Munguia would be a good fight.

I can't see anyone else on that list wasting time with a Stevens fight.

Probably thinking he's undersized for mw after getting ko'd by heavy ass lemieux. He'll quickly find out some of these guys at 154 are bigger than some of the middle weights.

He got folded by him. He's just out for a check and nothing more.

Because the cut is likely nowhere near as easy as he wants to say it is, lol.

He likely gets to 162 ok, stresses a little to get to 160. That finally 6 pounds though, likely take near all the fight out of him.

Note that he's talking about one check fight, and then getting one of the champs as a voluntary, rather than talking about campaigning at the weight.

He has fought as a LHW and now at the end of his career he is going to try to squeeze to 154. He is going to get laid out as soon as he fights top opposition
