It's a d@mn shame really. I expected or at least hoped he was going to become a new man after Chino. Totally change his mindset and perspective on boxing. Becoming a killer rather than a runner. What happened is he just stopped developing his craft completely. For a guy with the depth of personality and entertainment factor (more so than Floyd) it really sucks his boxing craft has been relegated to a yes, poor man's Floyd Mayweather.

Next we're going to see him try to fight no hopers in MMA or kickboxing like Floyd. None of this reflecting well on Floyd. He himself is becoming a joke in the real sports world.

He never mentally checked out like he did in later fights, probably because now he's experienced losing so he doesn't fight as hard once the fight looks out of reach
I'm more with this train of thought. I agree Broner showed more heart after some rough moments vs Maidana that he's really not shown again. I think there is something to that.

I think not unlike in that often talked about Rosario vs Camacho fight where Camacho's style was changed post fight due to how much he was challenged that night I think Broner experienced a similar situation vs Maidana.

And I think this happens to a lot of fighters. Not the biggest & best guys usually, but everyone else. Cuz we've all seen these solid lower level guys who just residually seem to put up less & less of an effort. I think you can take too much damage, mentally &/or physically, that it changes who you are in the ring.

I've actually been questioning if something similar happened to Joshua after that extremely rough Klitschko fight with his Takam performance & the even weirder calling his own timeouts vs Parker when Parker was starting to have moments. I think he rebounded in that Povetkin fight, but I'm still not 100% sold that Joshua hasn't changed mentally & had his risk aversion knob turned up higher.

I definitely agree with the Joshua thing. I think it can mentally affect a fighter that has looked invincible when they finally take some punishment and realise they're not and can be hurt and probably can be beaten.

Even in the Povetkin fight in the early rounds, he was still quite cautious. Then again, i also think he's purposely trying to be more of a measured/smarter boxer too and trying to prove a point that he's more than just a ****er.

I think it's hard to snap out of that mentality too once you're in it. Even before the fight you can probably have all the intentions of fighting hard if needed, but once it gets rough again, you revert to type.

Can't break someone mentally when they never had it mentally.

Actually Daniel Ponce de Leon showed the blue print

Kinda strange because when you go back and watch this fight now...nothing has changed and nothing has improved stylistically with Broner. One punch at a time just looking for the Left Hook and Straight right and even now 2019 he STILL fights this way. So it doesn't matter who is the trainer or any of that he just doesn't listen to anybody but himself

                  Yes, indeed.

Broner's problem, no pun intended, was going up in weight too fast. Broner should of stayed at 140 or 135. 147 was too deep.

broner enabled floyd to cherry pick maidana so thank you broner two fights that were pointless because you had hype and lost
