Crazy. This is how dudes die in the ring. That's the kind of cut that should be cleaned immediately.

Not a good look for the sport. It would be one thing if the fight was closer but he was down on the cards.

Yea don't necessarily disagree, but I do think while it looked gruesome it wasn't as bad as it looked. Or it was more superficial than serious.

That said due to the wideness of the fight & the injury I'd have had no issue with the ref calling the fight. I'm on record here as saying more fights should be stopped sooner when its merely uncompetitive & a guy is just getting beaten up & not putting up much of a fight. To me as a fan one of the worst parts of boxing is the sheer volume of uncompetitive fights that I believe makes boxing less interesting to fans so its doing no service to anyone from the athletes to the fans.

And back to the cut perhaps ironically as a MMA fan where blood is more common specifically blood covered faces the worst injuries seldom come from those blood drenched faces & much more often come from mfers who've just taken hard shots to the brain, jaw or eye socket & the bleeding you see on them is more trivial.

So again I think the cut looked BAD, but at no time was Badou in greater danger than he was when he first walked into the ring.

The ref, corner or doctor should've stopped it. He was so far down, having no success and losing so much blood.

But it wasn't in a place like his eye so he continued.

The object is to punch the other guy in the face, so this should be no surprise, and it shouldn't have been stopped.

it's a bit concerning that he wasn't checked for signs of a concussion by the ref/dr/his corner after that nasty headbutt. Showtime trying to market is as being a warrior is a dck move as well, no being a warrior is going to war in a fight you might be losing 8-4 and not walking forward losing pints of blood whilst being shutout and not being able to get going. I'm sure Kell Brook would be thankful today if his corner pulled him out of the GGG fight much earlier.
