    Could Kovalev beat a 2006-BHOP?

Post Tarver ala 2007 BHOP? Kovalev went Pro in 2009 at LHW.

Prime BHOP imo beats any version of Kovalev

I doubt it. Bhop was a great fighter.

--- SuperJoe one of many exposing the sissy boy Popkins.

Pop flopping on the canvas or on the ring apron or arena floor bawlin' his eyes out would be nice to see, but sissy boys ain't eligible for Valhalla.

      Nope!

"Superjoe" had to hit the old man in the cods to avoid getting stopped in round 2.

          very super.

but concerning Sergey Kov, I would say yes, he was a better fighter than "Superjoe" for sure. Kov simply chose not to stop Hopkins, he had him out on his feet whenever he chose, whereas Joe couldnt hurt Hopkins, he only got hurt by him. But it would be a much tighter fight in 2006, with hopkins extra lungs allowing him to spoil more effectively and lure Kov into more traps.

by 2006 Hopkins was no longer a surefire case for being an "elite" fighter.

Kovalev would white wash old Bhopkins like Calzaghe did.

              very super.

If you saw some old black balls hanging low, you would probably try to slap them too.

I doubt it. Stylistically Kovalev would probably always be a problem for Bhop, just like a prime Chad Dawson also would be.

Hopkins was a career middleweight and never a full light heavyweight. Kovalev is a big very hard punching light heavyweight. I think the prime 30 year old Kovalev beats any version of Hopkins at 175. Kovalev's combination of long range boxing behind a ramrod left jab and his great two handed punching power would be too much for the much smaller and much lighter punching Hopkins.

Not now, Kovalev in his prime. That's a different story.
