Bernard Hopkins: I'm bored as Hell

Bernard Hopkins confides: "I'm bored as hell"
    By DHB (July 7, 2006)
Bernard Hopkins has been retired a mere 3 weeks and already he is complaining about being bored. Three weeks ago Hopkins ended his career on a high note by dominating Antonio Tarver through 12 rounds. You'd think with all the free time after retirement, Hopkins would be having too much fun to be bored, but that is not the case.

In a recent interview by Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Hopkins confides he is bored as hell.

Hopkins tells ESPN from his home in Deleware: "I'm bored as hell. I'm sitting here in this kitchen and I am bored as hell.
I've been retired three weeks and I am bored as hell. I can't stand still. I'm either mowing the lawn, washing the car or picking weeds."

Hopkins admits he is keeping busy and staying fit, telling ESPN: "I cannot shut my body down from being so active. I'll get sick. I'll go out and run. That's in me. Maybe it will wear off in 10 years. I've been programmed to be like this for so many years, so it will take time for me to settle down.

I think Bernard will stay retired, but he will have to pick up another job in boxing to keep himself busy. Maybe a trainer...

He should be his nephew's trainer, Demetrius Hopkins.

I agree Hoskins may be the best puncher in the world but Hopkins is the best technical fighter in the world and also the dirtiest.

It'll be sad times for me once Toney/Hopkins/Morales are gone for good.

Bernard could keep fighting and winning, but retiring is definitely his best move.

Hopkins will help training the GBP fighters if he stays retired.

                    You can bet on that.
