Would have definitely helped if they had some linear deal to go along with the streaming deal. Hard to sell a product that NO ONE knows about stateside. Getting Canelo signed was pretty much the best thing DAZN could have wished for. But that alone obviously isn't enough. What is confusing is Hearn said they could still air the fights on Facebook or some linear network, but nothing has come about that. This was in response to when people said DAZN would be getting low viewership numbers and Hearn said yeah but, we can just replay the fight on Facebook or put it on a network afterwards.
I think at this point we can assume they are just strictly a streaming service and it is going to stay that way. Which is fine, but puts them at an disadvantage against other networks, even streaming networks that work with a linear network ala ESPN+.
