Crawford was doing good numbers on HBO but nothing like he is now. Also Khan is a well known fighter unlike the unknown postol. Also Khan is a much bigger draw then Jacobs or Lemieux. Ward Kovalev 1 and 2 were supposed be relatively big ppv's and they flopped too. I attribute that more to promotion of the fight than anything. Top Rank has been putting on big ppvs for many years and with ESPN helping to promote this will turn out pretty good. I think it does around 300k which is pretty good relatively speaking. Book it lolAre you ****** there is a huge difference doing good ratings on cable tv then doing PPV numbers. Crawford did huge numbers on HBO then flopped bad his only PPV against Postol. Hell GGG did even better cable numbers and still flopped TWICE on PPV doing 150K PPVs against Lemieux and 160K PPVs against Jacobs. Both better fights with a much bigger cable tv Star in GGG. Getting folks to watch a fight when they already have that Cable channel and it costs nothing to tune in is a big difference then getting folks to fork over $50+ to watch them fight. This fight won't do well on PPV book it.Comment

Porter/Ugas is the most competitive, but idk how you think the Crawford fight is better than the Spence one. Garcia is a 140lb champ and P4P top 5, so coming up one weight class for Spence is not out of the ordinary. Khan on the other hand had difficulty with non-contender that he fought last. He hasn't carried any power to 147 and has struggled at pretty much every fight at the weight outside of Devon Alexander.Comment

Is Hearn going to mention Khan is faded like he did for Pacquiao or no?
They didn't become "faded" and "undisciplined" until they refused to sign with him. https://t.co/8PHwoU1NQo

It's called lead-in programming buddy. Everybody knows what's going on with the ESPN fight schedule. Your arguments aren't strong.Crawford bemavidez did huge ratings for ESPN, in fact it was the most watched fight in all of boxing in 2018. Considering Bemavidez isn't well known outside of hardcore boxing fans, that means Crawford has become a big star and is ready for ppv. Although Khan isn't as good as he once was, he's only loss in years was to Canelo in a fight many had him winning before the expected by everyone ko. Like him or not Khan is a top welterweight and does big numbers both in the UK and USA. Some of you guys trash Top Rank and Top Rank fighters no matter what the situation is, simply because you don't like Bob Aru, for whatever reason, and swing on pbc fighters nuts no matter what just because al Haymon is black. Pathetic
Are you saying that this fight will sell north of 100k in PPV buys in the US?
If so, you're delusional.Comment

dude it doesn't work like that. cable ratings don't translate to PPV numbers. If it did then there would be over a dozen PPV stars in boxing but in reality you can count on 1 hand the PPV stars who can sell a PPV let alone a non competitive fight on PPV and 2 of them are old and semi retired. Khan isn't a big name how many PPVs has he headlined in the US? Exactly 1 against Canelo who was the A side and draw not Khan lol Crawford ain't Canelo and this is a worse version of Khan 3 years since getting put in a coma and coming off a shyt performance.Crawford was doing good numbers on HBO but nothing like he is now. Also Khan is a well known fighter unlike the unknown postol. Also Khan is a much bigger draw then Jacobs or Lemieux. Ward Kovalev 1 and 2 were supposed be relatively big ppv's and they flopped too. We just saw Deontay Wilder who drew 1.1M viewers against Ortiz on Showtime which is a premium channel in about 30M homes far fewer then ESPN which is included in almost everyone basic cable package and in about 90M homes. Wilder is a heavyweight which already draws more casuals into a PPV and faced the undefeated lineal Heavyweight champ in 50/50 fight which they promoted the hell out of and still that fight only did 300K PPV buys. GGG's did monster number for years on HBO multiple times being involved in the highest ratings of the year for a NON PPV fight but EVERY time he fought on PPV without Canelo it was a disaster failure and only did 150K PPV buys. Khan isn't a star with mediocre to good cable tv ratings in the US his entire career. And he's a shot damaged goods fighter that Casuals think is probably still dead laying on the canvas from the Canelo fight. You can't sell it as a competitive fight and Crawford isn't a PPV draw (50K PPV buys his only PPV).Last edited by bigdunny1; 01-15-2019, 01:51 PM.Comment

I'll take the over 100k buys (dont underestimate ESPN's draw) and Bob has said it will be at a cheaper price than Showtime/Fox PPVs. That said, it'll be a financial loss and I don't think they get to 200k unless the undercard is stacked (watching Teofimo blow out another can doesnt count)Comment

I really don't get Khan and why he took this fight over Brook. Even if he hates Brook, Mayweather hated Arum and made a deal in the end that made Arum more money than any other fight ever. Khan would be more famous in England for a big domestic match than a fight in Las Vegas against an American. Maybe that's it. Khan wants to be famous in America. In that case, yes beating Brook in 02 does nothing to further your profile in US. Less money and huge danger. Khan probably figures Pac got ktfo by Marquez and still cashed in so doesn't matter how washed he is.Comment
