Cinco De Mayo, DAZN vs PPV

Here's something I think folks are missing.

DAZN may have Canelo, but that doesn't necessarily ensure that the Cinco de Mayo is not in play for other fighters having a PPV event.

    DAZN is not PPV.

If I am a promoter, I simply do my PPV event on a day of that weekend that doesn't clash with the Canelo card.

For example, Canelo will most likely fight next on Saturday, May 4th.

There is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from scheduling a PPV fight for Friday night May 3rd or Sunday night or even afternoon May 5th.

With DAZN only charging 10 bucks, there is plenty of spending dollars left out there that weekend for a big fight...especially if the Canelo card is a week as some of theses past DAZN cards.

    Thoughts?

It isnt the 10$ for DaZn or 70$ on the same weekend. It is the the beers, the bbq and getting 2 passes or the missus.

Canelo vs GGG 3 at 10 dollares should give DAZN more subscribers , you guys just need to get the app for that month, Jacobs should fight on May 11th this way he set for the fall to take on the winner and those new subscribers get another solid fight on that month..

Unless it's May-Pac II, a PPV goin head to head with Canelo-DAZN would actually put MORE spotlight on Canelo-DAZN.

It would be smart to do a big show on Fox/SHO but not PPV.

That Friday or that Sunday would not be head to head.

Yeah, that's a lot in the first half.

But, Cinco de Mayo is a traditional weekend for huge PPVs regardless of what comes before or after.

There should be money on the table.

Who does a PPV Fri or Sun? Maybe a fight on network TV on Fri or Sun.

Sunday is a horrible idea. People have to work the next day

You are right. Promoters could do that and they probably will.
