I'm not surprised there was rumours of financial problems though. The purses for the first series at least were pretty high, not sure if this second lot is the same.

Didn't the finalists get something like $5m, or the winner did, but even the loser of the finals got very well paid. I mean, it's great for the fighters but the WBSS barely had any TV deals or anything, so that's a lot of money to be paying out and let's be fair, none of the fighters had the profile to draw huge numbers either. There's no chance any of them could've got those paydays normally. Strange business model, i'm guessing they have some big money backing it but it's still a business, not a charity.

kinda reminds me of that one Happy Days episode where they do a beauty contest to try to get chicks but then they didn't have the money for a trip to Hollywood so in the end the FONZ saves them by offering to change the prize to a date with him LOL.
