What happened to AJ's mandatory and the January deadlines?

When Hearn was sending Wilder offers before his fight with Fury, Eddie was adamant the fight had to be signed ASAP because only a unification would trump AJ's mandatory obligations and that the tickets for April 13th had to go on sale by the end of Jan.

We're in the middle of Jan and no fight announced to start ticket sales. Pulev is AJ's mandatory but there has been no mandatory announced.

First mandatory isn’t expected to be called till second half of the year. If he hasn’t already fought Whyte it would most likely be him, followed by pulev early next year?

That's not what Eddie said. He said Wilder must agree to a deal or else Joshua would have a mandatory to defend against in April.

We all know it was cr@p. I don't even bother anymore with people defending this mess.

Pretty sure he said they "could" call a mandatory. Wilder is ducking anyway so doesn't matter.

If they want a fight (Joshua/Wilder) of that magnitude for April then it’s a no brainer that it has to be done by now. Joshua versus anyone who isn’t Fury/Whyte/Wilder etc doesn’t need a lot of promotion. Hence why a Joshua/Povetkin can happen in September 2018 and a Joshua/Wilder has to happen another 1/2months later. A Joshua/Wilder fight needs at least 5 months to make.

"But they are not even willing to explore that and something doesn't smell right. But we've got to go about our own business. Can we wait until after December 1? Well there's mandatory situations as well, so it's just frustrating we can't even have a meeting to discuss it."
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn says "something doesn't smell right" after making a "very attractive offer" for Deontay Wilder to fight Anthony Joshua, only for the former's representatives to deny them a meeting.

The fight absolutely HAD to be signed before the Fury fight. There were mandatory situations and tickets had to be on sale before the end of January.

That doesn't say they would call a mandatory.

So why mention mandatory if there's no possibility of a mandatory being called?

There was a possibility. It didn't happen. It's not difficult.
