Mercer is a weird one...Beaten by a 44 year old Holmes, beaten by major underdog Jesse Ferguson yet gives Lennox Lewis one of his hardest fights.

Who knows? I did always think Mercer was overrated due to his KO of Morrison though.

You think he under performed in some of his loses. Kinda like Zab never lived up to his full potential under the brightest of lights or Ray was just short of having the ability to compete with the best of his era

Mercer at his best would probably be near the top. He would have chance to beat any heavyweight fighting today but would not be the betting favorite to beat Fury, AJ or Wilder.

I think he was very overrated. Extremely tough for sure. The Lewis fight was one of those strange struggles for Lennox, like Billups and Chanet. But Mercer would be above the likes of Miller. Hes almost a Chisora type guy, but abit better chin.
