Comments Thread For: Linares Says Golden Boy Contract Expiring, Still Eyes Lomachenko

Three-time world champion Jorge Linares assured that he is in the best condition of his career to face Pablo Csar Cano in New York on January 18, and after that he said he was ready to face Vasiliy Lomachenko again, or even Jos Ramrez, as he searches for another world title. In a conversation with ESPN Deportes, Linares said that his promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions is expiring in the near future, but that he is not really thinking beyond Cano, whom he recognized as a brave fighter, but with less speed, intelligence and experience.

Loma might as well have a rematch with Linares. I don't see anything else out there for him, except...Teofimo Lopez! The Takeover! Brooklyn, Let's Go!

I can't see Mikey staying at 147, which means both Linares and Mikey will likely be sitting at 140 looking for top-level opponents - that match-up remains long overdue.

Assuming the WBSS completes as expected, we'll have a winner of Prograis/Taylor/Baranchyk/Relikh out of it (Ring numbers 1,2, 4 and 6), then the WBSS winner vs winner Linares/Mikey would be pretty fan friendly, however long that takes.

With Hooker/Ramirez and their belts too - so many possibilities at 140. Loma must be wishing he was a bit bigger, even with his skills, what with his shoulder problem, natural size and age, 140 might be where he meets his match.

Linares should try to resign with Golden Boy. They were with him when his career went down after the upset losses.

Maybe they would sign you if you didn’t quit like a ***** after that body shot. It hurt, so what? Those are the moments you get up on pure will and that moment showed linares has none. He was ahead on the score cards with 2 rounds remaining he should have fought on. He had no serious life threatening injuries during the fight.

Shameful display by you linares, I hope golden boy doesn’t resign you

Loma-Linares is a fight that needs a rematch..... I don't think Loma wants that threat though.

Linares will never beat Lomachenko. The judging was terrible for that fight. Another suspect Golden Boy card. His highlight was a flash KD & it'll only be worse when they fight.

But in any event am I missing something? Why Ramirez & not Hooked on DAZN?

Top Rank desperately need opponents for Ramirez and I bet they go hard after him once he officially becomes a FA. And of course, if he wants the Lomachenko rematch, he can get it there as well. Who does DAZN have at 140 aside from Hooker? Once the WBSS is over, they don't have Taylor or Prograis. And they will be busy until mid-late 2019 anyways with two fights still remaining.

A rematch is pointless, the fight wasn't even that close.

Thanks for giving us the knockdown though. It's good gif material
