Can someone with knowledge/no bias explain how much money a big fight generates?

Using AJ-Povetkin as an example please. The unofficial PPV buys were 1.1 million at £19.95. The attendance was "just under 80,000", with the average ticket priced at £145. Obviously we don't know how much was made from sponsorship etc. Or how much the promoters and other fighters made. But can anybody break it down? Also, do Sky profit at all? I also have no idea how much would have been paid in tax?

Using nothing more than common sense:

    1.1 million @ £19.95 = £21,945,000
    79,000 @ £145 = £11,455,000

    Equals £33,600,000

And that's not taking into account sponsors and advertisement and whatever else I haven't considered.

What are the costs? Promotion? Advertising? Venues? What else? How much in tax?

AJ apparently made "over £15,000,000" and Povetkin "around £5,000,000". There weren't any other big names on the card. Say the other purses, at a push, were no more than £1,000,000? I'm just stumbling around in the dark here, can anyone who knows what they're talking about enlighten us on how this stuff works? And a realistic estimate/breakdown of all earnings and costs? As well as who earned what? Ballpark estimates will do. Even down to Eddie Hearn, how much would he make himself?

    Thanks.

There is no average. For example sky often take 50% of ppv revenue ; although Joshua has a much higher split (80%?). Other avenues e.g BT and America have different splits; or in the case of DAZN a completely different revenue method completely.

Sounds like you already started the workings for the calculation but unless you know the numbers you really don’t know the numbers is the honest answer
