Who Would You Rather Have As Your Mentor/Father Figure?

Roy Jones Jr or Bernard Hopkins? Or any other fighters you feel you can relate to and learn from?

I have learned a lot about life from just listening to people speak, on TV, youtube, random internet vids, etc...

When it comes to athletes, most athletes really have very little to offer when it comes to wisdom about life, except for fighters, in my opinion. Always been a huge Tyson and Ali fan and have heard and read everything they've ever said, probably. But in this case, I am going to refer to 2 guys who recently retired and still have their wits and are still talking and giving interviews, and have a huge library of past interviews talking about life and being a man. Jw who would you like to have as a mentor if you could pick one guy?

    None of the above.

    Buster Douglas.

    Could teach me boxing.

if that didn't work out, could teach me how to eat.

Roy Jones Jr. was blessed with superhuman powers. There isn't much he could teach you. Bernard Hopkins on the other hand did everything the hard way and came from nothing. Was grit and sheer determination that got him where he went. I know that in his prime he literally lived like a monk, would be in bed by 8:30pm, up in the early hours 365 days a year. Out of the two I think Hopkins would be the best fit to mentor an average Joe.

Hopkins- Grinding out a win, quick overhand right, ring generalship, Ring IQ

Canelo- Defense, feints, head movement, body work, combinations, Ring IQ

                Oscar- Jab, punch output, movement

Floyd- Defense, pot shots, rope a dope, ring generalship, Ring IQ

                Winky- Defense, Ring IQ

Herrera- Fighting ugly, unsettling your opponent, making him work for that W.

Mikey- Boxing skills to work on, Ring IQ

Salido- Body work, grinding out a win, toughness

Ward- Body work, clenching, disrupting your opponent, grinding out a win, RIng IQ

                Marquez- Counter punching, Ring IQ

                Chavez- body work, ring generalship.

                I would study these guys.

The group below I would learn nothing from since they rely on pure god given talent of athleticism and power. Or fought smaller opposition.

Roy Jones, GGG, Joshua, Spence, Chavez Jr, Wilder, Charlo.
