Some fighters don't need promoters i.e DLH, Floyd, Cotto. Cash cows don't need promoters. Mikey is not a cash cow.

There is zero reason for Mikey not being a super star, but he isn't.

He's Mexican, is fluent in English and Spanish, gets a lot of youtube exposure, is undefeated, born and raised in Southern California, has a very entertaining style, but the man has not and will likely not reach his marketing potential.

His down fall, his business decisions. Maybe he's a comformist and is happy with the level He's reached, but he's definitely an underachiever.

Mikey has a vision for his career. He's guiding his career the way he sees fit. And making good money while doing so.

I've seen a couple people say he shoulda fought Linares. Where is Linares career now? He just fought on facebook.

What could Oscar, or any other promoter, had done to put Mikey in a better position than he's in right now? A position HE wants to be in

He would have Linares if GB didn't ask for 50/50 split. Linares as much of praise he gets from all the GB kiss @ss writers, didn't deserve a 50/50 split when he cant even draw 3k to see him fight. Same with Loma, Mikey told him to his face to move up after Loma beat Sosa. Loma ended up staying at 130 for another year and no way Mikey would allow Arum to dictate everything to have it Arum's way. Arum has said so himself, he agrees to his terms or they move on.

Well for startes GBP could Market the crap out of his Mexican heritage, his SoCal background, plaster his face all over under Canelo banners, have his fight on Canelo undercards, get him multi million dollar deals with DAZN... That's not even including that GBP would not use him as a sacrificial lamb against Errol Spence before he even reached his full potential.

NOt really, Oscar was asking for 50/50 split for Linares. Linares has never been a draw and would have been Mikey bringing in all the fans just like Loma did for their fight. Linares as a headliner cant even bring in 3k, I should know because I went to his last 2 fights at the Forum, never seen it so dead.

50-50 was fair because at that point Mikey wasn’t much of a draw either. Mikey best crowd that he has brought to an arena was vs Easter. When he fought Broner ol’ AB brought many of the fans.

I agree mikey sold a few more tickets back then but the tv money is the main component of the purse and neither man was killing it ratings wise either. But together they would have got a good rating because of the matchup

How right you are. Mikey is doing everything a PBC fighter would do and without the reward. If he would of went with Golden Boy he would be making many millions more than he is now. Mikey thinks he is smarter than he actually is.
