Heavyweight: No changes here. Tyson Fury retains his claim to the lineal crown, Deontay Wilder to the WBC belt, and Anthony Joshua to everything else. However, for purpose of explanation, some readers may note Fury credited with three lineal title defenses while only thinking of Wilder as a title fight. Historically, the heavyweight title has been on the line in any official fight because there is no other division to fight in. Fury billed himself as the lineal king for each of his two comeback fights. If he'd lost, he would no longer have been able to do that, right? On those grounds, the defense number is 3.

Fury declared himself retired and lost the lineal championship the the same way as Lennox did when he retired.

If you say retirement doesn't matter then Lennox still has it.

No one best the man who beat the man.

Doesn't work that way. As has been done for the last 134 years, Klitschko continued the lineage after Lewis retired and Fury beat Klitschko. Fury says he's back, so he's the lineal champion until somebody beats him.

That's ridiculous. Lennox stayed retired and then there was a fight between Klitschko and Chagaev for the lineal title in 2009.

        Fury never really retired.

He said he was retired on Twitter and unretired the same day.

Then he retired on Twitter again and immediately started saying he was coming back within like a few months.

        Not the same thing.

Fury was the man who beat the man. The lineage was left vacant in Fury's absence..the lineage would've been restored IF the #1 & #2 wouldve fought which would have established a Division Champion. Fury came back challenging the #1 or #2 HW and drawing with. He has the strongest claim to it.

If Lennox came out of retirement he'd be lineal champion until his old ass got beat.

That was the point of Jim Jeffries coming out of retirement against Jack Johnson. Had Jim beaten Jack Jim's reign would be considered ongoing while Hart's Burns' and Johnson's reigns would have been erased.

Corbett vacated his title prior to losing to Fitzs. Pater Maher won it in a fair contest. No one acknowledges Maher as a champion because Corbett came out of retirement and reclaimed his title.

Jem Ward and Deaf Burke...like five times Jem Ward came out of retirement to reclaim his title.

So given there is debate about whether fury really is the lineal champion or not?

If Joshua fights and beats Wilder he would then own all five belts.

Who would be lineal then? In my eyes anyone who holds all five belts would be lineal regardless as they are proven to be #1

True but its debatable. I don't think theres ever been a situation like this honestly. A Wilderjoshua bout would have determined the division Champion.. especially in Furys absence. But the fact they didn't leaves the argument wide open especially with Fury back..and drawing with Wilder..whoever you rate higher, Joshua or Wilder is subjective at this point ESPECIALLY because they haven't fought. I prefer that over a Fury rematch, wed have a unified paperchamp with the winner faces the real champ in Fury.

                  Fury, until beaten.

Fury was never the lineal champion. Wlad was never undisputed.
