Comments Thread For: Smith Confident of Beating Lubin: 'Coach Can't Fight For Him'

Ishe Smith abhors the term "gatekeeper" in the wake of back-to-back losses at 154-pounds. Since falling by unanimous and split-decision to once-beaten title challenger Julian Williams and twice-beaten Tony Harrison in November 2017 and May, the versatile Smith has seen Harrison dethrone Jermell Charlo as WBC champ on December 22, and Williams (26-1-1, 16 KOs) position himself for a shot at IBF/WBA titleholder Jarrett Hurd in 2019.

The Williams fight wasn’t very close. It’ll shine more when Williams upsets Hurd in April. I’m not sure this is the right guy for Lubin at this point. He was shaky in the fight with Ortiz before the stoppage. I’m not sure how much Smith has left but I would’ve gone another route.

I wonder it Lubin is damaged goods after that Charlo fight. I hope Lubin is able to get back on track.

Lubin doesnt have a chin. Smith only has to catch him once

Ishe with his veteran savvy could be a dangerous opponent for Lubin.

If Lubin can't beat Ishe at this point, his career is finished!

I'm wondering if Smith can come up with any more excuses? Guaranteed he'll have to get used to being called gatekeeper if he loses this one. And I don't give him great odds to do that.
