fighters who claim the p4p title

probably the thing i've come to hate most about boxing over the years is the fact that the holders of the p4p title are the least likely to clean out a division.

the press, media and most fans will praise them for their relative dominance over less than the best fighters and their past accomplishments, and the get tons of accolades for going on cruise control and talk.

guys, i really want to believe in floyd, but i don't think he knows what he's doing anymore.

This goes back to the age old question:

Which is more impressive? Winning multiple titles in different weight classes? Or Unifying and Defending the titles in a certain weight class.

    You chose....I like the Former.

Sugar Ray Leonard never unified anything and also won titles in 5 different weight classes. Just like Floyd he mostly kept winning the WBC with 1 or 2 trinkets on the side. I agree, I think it says a lot more for a fighter to win championships in multiple divisions, unless you're Joe Louis or somebody..

I don't think anyone should be moving up in weight unless they have fought the best in their division or can no longer make the weigth anymore.

You guys are missing the point. It has nothing to do with either or. The main thing is the opposition. Both Calzaghe & Hopkins are very good fighters but it wasnt anything special to see them dominate there division when mostly every fighter in there division totally ******. Its great to clean out a divison as long as your in a top notch division but if there's only like 2 really good fighters in the whole division then it means nothing for me to see you win 12 or more in a row in your weak division.

To me, Floyd has been the best of both worlds. He cleaned out a very good division at 130. It may have been the best in all of boxing. Since then he moved up to 4 different weight classes, winning titles, and doing it unaturally. He was a solid LW and ok jr. WW but there is no way he belonged at WW and no way he belonged at Jr MW, yet he still beat a ton of top guys at all those weights. Thats hard to do no matter what you say. Again, I like to see all those guys who stayed in the same divison for all those years accomplish that. Again, its not just about moving up but Floyd did it unaturally and thats still the biggest thing for me. The guy is super small. He hasnt had one fight since 140 where he made the weight limit. Every fight at WW he has came into the ring at 146 or less and his one fight at Jr. MW he came in at 148. Thats incredible no matter what you say. Now you can want him to clean out the WW division but it really isnt fair to him when he's not there size. He can still win because he's that good but he'll go through hell for doing it and will get no credit for the weight disadvantage just like people wont aknowledge it now.

Even at 140 I think Floyd would be ok with it. If all these big WW's were big 140 pounders then I think Floyd would be fine with fighting all of them in a row but at WW he is just too small to be jumping at every single fight immideatly. It has nothing to do with how good they are. Its just strictly there size advantage as they are all huge WW's that should probally be at 154 while he is a super small WW that should probally be at 135 or 140 at the most and he would be probally the smallest guy even at that weight
