I think it’s a mistake to bulk up looking at that picture. His best chance of winning is being quicker and more elusive, having an compact defense, and boxing to a decision. Your playing into the hands of Spence trying to illustrate you have power to hurt him. Just box him for 12 rds, try to win a decision, and become the #1 pound for pound fighter.

The Spence Fanboyism is setting themselves up for disappointment. Garcia is by far the most accomplished, experienced fighter he will have faced with 3 fights at 140, 2 being Champions.

I'm a fan of Spence too but completely disregarding an opponent of Garcia's class shows ignorance and a complete lack of boxing knowledge.

With the recent situations like adonis stevenson ect it puts into perspective the dangers of this sport and although garcia is daring to be great i just dont like this fight for him. Imagine something happens to him, god forbid, its like when khan fought canelo and brook ggg , kind of a size mismatch.

gracia is a much smarter and more cautious fighter. im sure if he gets stopped, it'll be a tko type ref/corner stoppage where he's still on his feet so i dont think he's gonna be taking some real damage. i dont see spence putting mikey to sleep cold. i think if its a stoppage it'll come from the ref or the corner.

Let's see, Mikey picked Spence for a reason, probably because he thinks he can see faults in Spences' game that he has the skills to exploit. He'll be thinking that he will be able to hit him reasonably easy plus he will be able to time him to help both his offence and defence. That wouldn't work against say Crawford so don't pick him, moving up in weight can be a risk but it worked OK for Crawford.

Mikey is setting himself a challenge but it's a carefully thought through one and at his level one or two things that may not be obvious can make the difference between win and lose. Mikey for the win but it will be an exciting fight.

He isn’t putting Spence to sleep. Anyone with half of brain knows that. Mikey has only had 2 stoppages in 6 fights going back to 2014 and couldn’t get Easter, Lipinets, or Broner out. And the art of “boxing” is more than being quick on your feet or keeping your distance from your opponent. I said Mikey has to be quicker and more elusive and have a compact defense. That’s a big difference in what you thought I was referring to.

You can also box Spence being in the pocket and being in front of them, feinting, giving him angles, coming in and out, mixing things up. And Mikey will stand and fire at certain points of the fight to try to get his respect. Doing all the above is “pure boxing.” You can illustrate the art of boxing without being on your bike all night. And Mikey is “fundamentally” a sound boxer with very good technique. Will it work against Spence is another question. I don’t think so. But I can’t wait to see it.
