Someone Convince Me Mikey Has a Chance

I keep hearing rumblings and scattered comments that 'Mikey see's something in Errol Spence....Mikey knows something we don't." From the moment this fight was suggested and then announced I see no way Mikey wins this fight.

Mikey is a great 130-135 fighter but what convinces any of us that this carries to 147? If Spence had no skills I would agree with those that cite Mikey's IQ or boxing pedigree but Spence is not a mindless brawler.

I know there are some who mention he broke Maidana's rib but so what Maidana at times is a mindless brawler, catch him on the right day and it's easy work. From what I can see, Mikey not big enough, strong enough, fast enough, don't hit hard enough, and he hasn't demonstrated that he has the punch output to stop Spence from outworking him.

So if you care to respond please present your best assessment of Mikey's chances.

It's strange that there are no hardcore Mikey fans or anti Spence fans in full effect arguing for a Garcia win. That's what usually happens, not this time I guess, lol

I dont think the world of Spence as many others do but we have weight divisions for a reason.

I dont see him winning. I can see him having moments but Spence wont stop ripping his body then he will get stopped. If he wins I will be supremely impressed.

Mikey's key to victory is his timing. He has great timing and will most likely look to land a counter or land first when Errol comes in. He is a technician so his footwork, high guard and fighting from the right distance is what he'll attempt to employ.

I think he'll try to land his jab after Spence throws his. If successful, he'll have Errol wary of that and then throw the right instead of his jab to mix it up. I just don't know if he has the pop to keep Errol off him. Maybe he doesn't need the power though, simply the timing to keep Spence off rhythm.

I still have my boy Spence coming out on top but Mikey is highly skilled and I'm not counting him completely out. His mental game is up there with the best of them.

Everything spence does Mikey does it better WITH NO MISTAKES.

Spence dont even have legit power he has to land a ton of shots before you even get hurt.

Spence been hurt from nobody bums, get tagged alot in every fight.

He could Out-Box Spence Jr...but can he do it for 12 Rounds is the big challenge

Mikey not slick defensively or anything he is going to get hit particularly to the body, if he can hold up then beating Spence Jr by Decision is very possible but it is going to be a challenge keeping Spence Jr off of him. Spence Jr jab is underrated, also the way he uses it to set up his body work, that is what concerns me for Mikey...



Spence Jr is open for big counters though, because he is so aggressive offensively that sometimes he neglect defense and head movement.


If Mikey would've taken 2-3 fights at 147 and took time to bulk up for the Division I would be more confident to pick him in a major upset. Spence Jr however, after going over and having that experience in the UK vs Kell Brook in front of a Massive and Hostile Crowd, that was the moment in which he would've been "EXPOSED" (a Popular word on Boxing Scene Forum ) if he wasn't that good. It looked as if he was on his way to being exposed early in that fight but he adjusted and broke Kell down to the body and well yeah when you get blasted to the body like that then yes, you coming back down in weight will work against you

I like Mikey and Spence Jr so I could careless who wins, Hopefully it is a better fight than people expect and I HOPE that Mikey holds his own even if he loses.
