Whatever way you cut it, your point that AJ has fought more top 10 rated opponents than anyone else is really the only relevant statistic to compare records. He definitely gets a slide on Takam as the IBF is super serious about mandatories. Parker had no chance of beating him, but Parker did have a belt and Joshua should be commended for unifying. I think the issue some people have is that WBA mandatories are pretty much a joke and it's hard to believe Joshua couldn't have fought Wilder before Povetkin if he really wanted to.
Time is on Joshua's side and there really was no reason to rush into a Wilder fight. I think any sensible person would understand fighting Povetkin first. Now Wilder isn't available and it looks like Joshua is going to fight Whyte. Nobody has fought as many top 10 guys as Joshua has and Whyte will be yet another top opponent for Joshua. Other than maybe not rushing into a Wilder fight, there's no room to criticize his resume. He's beaten almost all of the top 10. Nobody else can say that.
Wilders managers do not want AJ, Haymon can make any fight he wants, but he is not going to chance losing that WBC belt, no way.
They only picked Fury because he was supposed to be un-prepared and getting into deep water too quickly, and he came and made a fight of it, won it actually, which left Hayman with no choice but to put a draw on Wilders record.Comment

There is no they. Just one poster. But YALL love to take a couple words and twist them like it's a national pastime.Comment

So you glad hand anyone who spins the fact that Joshua took the safe route when unifying/taking mandatories? Knowing that the whole top 10 argument at heavyweight is a joke because the division is only 5 deep.
I hope the Wilderites vilify you. It seems the Joshualites have threatened your being and coerced you into making blindly loyal and senseless posts. Have you assimilated to the Sid? Have you been laligagged?Comment

What a prat.....That’s sweet of you to say. So commend Deontay for wanting a rematch instead of chasing history and fighting to be undisputed? Listen even if he beats Fury which he won’t he only opinion wise wins his belt back.
Meanwhile you have been campaigning and giving petitions out for the last 3 months on the potential rematch between AJ and Whyte. Personally AJ will step all over him so I’m not keen on the fight but I’m not just saying this Whyte will cause Wilder all types of problems. A 50/50 fight until Wilder lands and inevitably stops him but that right hand is easy to telegraph and if you are hit by it and you manage to get up just guard your face like peekaboo ( you don’t need to worry about your stomach all headshots) and then count clearly as 10 heavy looping shots will come your way. Once you have blocked all of them ,go and knock his arse out... you are welcome

Well yes, ducking is the best description.I could understand saying he's ducking if he suddenly decides he wants to fight Breazeale next, but if he fights Fury next, is ducking really the best description for the situation? I don't know if British fans understand how much hype there is for Fury vs Wilder thanks to that 12th round knockdown and Fury getting up like the Undertaker.
To the casuals over here, Wilder vs Joshua being next would be a big let down. Wilder and Fury have unfinished business and the US public wants to see those two clarify things.
Wilder has talked about unifying for many years, and there being one face, one champion. The carrot at the end of the stick for the Joshua fight is more money, more belts, undisputed, lineal status and a guaranteed rematch in Vegas.
The carrot for beating Fury is what exactly?
If you are telling me that America would prefer to see a rematch of a fight that was close instead of an undisputed unification fight of two knockout artists then I don't really know what to say.
You might as well say that people would prefer to see Wilder v Ortiz again.
Joshua has been on American turf and publically begged for he Wilder fight. If Wilder doesn't even entertain the idea then how can you call that anything other than a duck?Last edited by EnglishOxide; 12-28-2018, 05:42 AM.Comment

They fought Fury because it was the second biggest fight at heavyweight to be made. They fought Fury because a win over Fury gives them leverage in negotiations with Team Joshua.Whatever way you cut it, your point that AJ has fought more top 10 rated opponents than anyone else is really the only relevant statistic to compare records.

You sound like the GGG stans. Top 10 means d*ck when the division doesn't go 10 deep. The only risk Joshua and Hearn have taken was the Klitschko fight. They bought the IBF and WBO belts. Fought Povetkin who hasn't looked good since being forced to get off meldonium and only had testing for the Joshua fight because they made him. The fact that he was mandatory should dissuade anyone from using boxing organizations rankings as their go to for argument. Top 10 doe! The fact that Ortiz PED history gets more attention than Povetkins is laughable. I guess just like with Whyte, once you fight AJ, all shortcomings and blemishes disappear.Comment

He’s beat whyte who is number 3. Once again please tell me wbo Ortiz has beat.
He’s rated number one because in the least amount of fights he’s fought and beat the most ranked opponents. He beat the best active heavyweight in klitchko so that’s why he’s rated number 1.Comment
