Fighting killers back to back........... surely even Wilder doesn't believe his own BS there?
Fury is quite possibly the most skilled and awkward HW there is, but he does nothing but jab and move - I can't remember the last time he threw a punch with any real spite behind it.
Ortiz may have been a killer 5 years ago, but he'd been showing his age in his performances for a while even before he got his shot with Wilder. The skill and instinct is still there, but the engine packed in years ago.
Have you not listened to Wilder over the last few years? He most certainly believes his own bull****. He wouldn't be so forthright with his delusion if he didn't. No one with any self respect or self awareness would say the things Wilder does. The guy is with the fairies. And so are his equally deluded fans.
Whyte is not best possible opponent and if he weren't from the UK and mentioned as a possible AJ opponent I'm sure your opinion would be different. You would highlight almost getting knocked out by Parker and struggling with journeyman Chisora before the KO. You'd mention that outside of his win vs Parker that he hasn't beating anyone rated above journeyman. You'd say he gets no credit for losing to a champ. Basically you would say the same things you say about Ortiz.
If it's not Wilder next, then it has to be Whyte. His win against Parker alone is better than anything anyone else has done.

Chisora is much more than a journeyman but I would stop at decent gatekeeper and still far better than anyone Ortiz beat as prooven by Chisoras performances against Vitali, Takam and even Whyte didn't always win but showed he isn't a pushover at all. Ortiz wouldn't keep up with the pace and punishment of either of the Whyte v Chisora fights as shown when he gassed against Wilder in the 7th, I think, punching himself out failing to get the KO in a relatively low pace, low output fight.
Whyte is ranked above Ortiz by every independent organization and considered 4th best by everyone but Boxrec who have Povetkin 4th, Whyte 5th and Ortiz 7th. So these boxing experts you like to speak of would actually regard Whyte as the best possible oponent for a competitive fight after Wilder and Fury.
The WBO has as much worth as any other title. And if you want to be undisputed, you have to collect it.
Wilder was asking for 50/50 back then, just like he's doing now, so of course they were going to go for the fight that could be made and not wait on the coward Wilder and his ridiculous demands.
The value of the belt lies within the waist it's around. WBO belt was trash the minute it started floating around only to be captured in a patty cake war between Ruiz and Parker.
When Hearn offers something close to 40% or better or even a $20M plus upside deal, then you can cry about Wilder asking for 50-50. Otherwise it's just a convenient excuse to allow Hearn to play games.

Ortiz Whyte or Ortiz Chisora would be at a fast pace. Both would get KOd trying to push the pace versus the big southpaw.
He also refers to himself by a nickname in the 3rd person (does that count as 4th person?), so deluded may be a mild way of stating it to be honest.
Any normal person does that and they'll find themselves sat in a padded room, in a straight jacket, medically sedated and mumbling nursery rhymes while awaiting multiple psych assessments.
