Actually it’s more like Salido opted out when he head butted Garcia and broke his nose

Damn Mikey looks like a kid standing next to Spence.

Fighters today are so dumb. They think bulking up will even out the playing field, but all it does is create a bigger and slower target for the naturally bigger guy.

Mikey would have been better just training like he always does. He would not even have to cut weight in the last days leading to the fight and come in with natural speed and weight.
Lol. There’s a different in building just muscle to building muscle for fighting. There’s vanity muscle which is what most people do and building muscle for fighting

You're not wrong. It was Brook's speed that caused Golovkin issues, not his bulk. The bulk doesn't help you when you are just not used to being hit 50% harder.
Having said that if the extra muscle stops him being rag-dolled then that could be of some help ... if it doesn't slow him down

Mikey is a great fighter but Spence is not easy work. If anything, he will be Mikey's toughest opponent to date. Win or lose, Mikey already has my respect for taking on a tough challenge

the thing i dont like about this match up is that mikey is short and stocky compare to spence. so he's gonna have to stay in the pocket and try to make spence miss because he's not light on his feet to bounce in and out.

he's gonna have to pretty much stay there and use upper body movements instead of using footwork to make spence miss and get his shots in. most of the smaller fighters moving up fighting bigger guys usually are quick on their feet, ex: floyd vs canelo, pac vs marg. mikey is nothing like that. mikey is actually pretty slow on his feet.

Mikeys got big cajones for taking this fight.

I think it would've made more sense to use this strength and conditioning strategy going into a fight with Shawn Porter as a test run. Porter is the lite version of spence- he has a somewhat similar swarming style but can also box decently if/when it calls for it and is considered a big welterweight.

If he would've been able to deal with Porter, even in a close win while displaying speed similar to his lower weights as well as improved strength, I'd feel Mickey would have a realistic shot at victory.

Spence has a great chin and getting hit seems to amuse him-he enjoys it. He'll be more then happy to eat anything Mikey throws at him just to get in close. This guy was walking through Kell Brook's(another big welterweight) power shots in the later rds of their fight with no problem.

Not sure what Mikey has planned against a guy that's way bigger and Stronger than him, cuts the ring off, attacks the body and the head with vicious hooks and crosses, has great stamina and seemingly gets Stronger the longer the fight lasts.

If I'm Mikey, the first good power shot he lands that puts me down- I'm staying down. No one will blame him haha

Why, what's the difference in the cheats. At least Memo got JMM to KO Pac and passed all the tests!

I'm about as big a fan of a Mikey as you are but I don't even think you believe that. I'm surprised that Robert made this statement. That's almost as bad as when Arturo Gatti's trainer said something to the effect that they were incorporating more boxing in his game in preparation for Mayweather.

If Mikey should win this fight it won't be because of his strength or power. He'll have to put on a clinic like Mayweather did against Canelo.

We'll see if he can do it.

It makes sense now that they actually said it. He's always looked kinda doughy even at a lower weight. Heck, if it worked for him in the past I guess no need to change it now.

I don't see it making a difference against one of the biggest, strongest fighters in the division.
