Comments Thread For: Dmitry Bivol is Not Surprised at Level of Talent From Ukraine

WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol of Russia is not surprised with the level of talent to come out of Ukraine in the last few years. Vasiliy Lomachenko, Artem Dalakian, Oleksandr Usyk and Oleksandr Gvozdyk are fierce world champions who are widely regarded as some of the best fighters in the world. There are several others from Ukraine who are rising up in the ranks.

Before the hate mongering comes in from both sides. I dont care where anyone is from,if they can box I'll watch. Im black, from Chicago but Loma and Usyk has been in my top ten favorites since I saw them. Typically fans would call them runners but I love the sweet science. Thats all I see, superb boxing not skin color nor do I care what country they're from.

Excellent reply, not something I'm used to seeing on this forum.

I'm a white guy from England and my favourite boxers are Spence, Crawford, Loma, Usyk, Canelo, ggg and Pacquiao.

Hate all the racism and fanboys on here, if a boxer is good he's good and as a boxing fan you should appreciate that instead of bringing hate and racism in to it.

I like the back and forth on here, it's all fun and games to me but yeah, especially after you've boxed before you can't be biased like that because you have an understanding and appreciation of how talented they are and how hard they need to work to get there.

Even lower ranked guys that we call 'bums', the guys that will NEVER even reach gatekeeper status are so far beyond in capabilities compared to regular people and they had to spend thousands of hours training their bodies.

The thing to keep in mind here is that this is the golden generation of Ukrainian boxing. Their 2012 Olympic class is one of the best of all time.

However, the 2016 class was not very strong, and neither was the 2008 class. You'll notice there aren't many fighters from those other teams that have really made it, in fact I don't think there are any.

So while this current class is very strong, there's no guarantee that future classes will be as well.

Ukraine has been hit or miss in terms of pro boxing. They're not as dominant as Russians or Kazakhs.

I agree. This forum needs a re-vamp and to ban at least 100 posters and have noobie policies. I'd be happy to help filter out the trash.

LOL. What kasakh or russian is at the top right now. GGG is half ethnic russian and kovalev is done. Ukranie right now has 3 champs. Lomachenko, gvozdyk and usyk. Usyk unified and gozdyk holds the wbc. Loma and usyk are both in the top ten p4p list.

I'm sure he's referring to all time. Russia and Kazakhstan both have loads of talent rising up the ranks, while Ukraine hasn't had as many great fighters in the recent years coming up the ranks.

in the 2016 Olympics, Kazakhstan had 10 fighters and 4 medals. Russia had 9 fighters and 3 medals. Ukraine had 5 fighters, and 4 never made it out of the round of 32.

Dalakian too. They have 4 champions currently. One is unified and considered p4p #1, one is undisputed and a top 3 p4p and Gvozdyk is #1 in his division and lineal.
