I concur! what an insult to even compare the great pernell to a bum who cant even make weigh in!!!!! For god sakes! It’s happen multiple times! He got stripped! For missing weigh in!!!! Yet they dare to compare him to the great sweet pea! I like to apologize to señor pernell for the insult!

For all the haters, who think this is a cherry pick fight, please recognize that Mares called out Tank, just like Rigo called out Loma, and Mares is moving up ONE weight class, and not TWO weight classes!

I'm not yet sold on Davis being the new-messiah... but at the same time, I don't think Mares has what it takes to derail the Gervonta freight train at this point. A more likely scenario would likely be this is just a showcase fight for Davis.

Very talented. The lack of discipline in between fights, where he balloons up in weight, concerns me.

Imo the term “daring to be great” had been misused by fans and misapplied by media members the past few years. It’s been used to describe cash grab fights between fighters in different divisions that are forced on us rather than more meaningful fights in a given division.

For example I didn’t see ggg/brook or canelo/khan as “daring to be great” fights. Same as Mikey/ Spence. Now if you clean out a division and go up to fight the champ like if usyk fights Joshua, that is “daring to be great “.
