I thought I would start a thread on each division; I’ll scatter this over a period of time on different divisions. The purpose is to allow discussion on who “owns” that division from a conmercial sense and what match ups can be made!! Focus is on UK and America which drives the promotional clashes!
The obvious place will be to start in the top division! I will aim at top10 - with select other contenders albeit obviously will be some subjectivity on rankings but that’s not really the point. Any inaccuracies leave a post and I’ll edit. Discuss implications, etc!
#1 Anthony Joshua -
matchroom; long term deal with sky sports UK and DAZN have option.
#2 Tyson Fury -
Out of contract? Usually deals with frank warren. Would expect therefore to be on BT in uk.
#3 Deontay Wilder -
No contract? - usually deals with Lou DiBella, Shelley Finkel and Showtime.
#4 Dillian Whyte -
Matchroom UK and Sky
#5 Luis Ortiz -
No contract? - last worked with showtime and failed to get deal done to fight Whyte due to promoter clashes?
#6 Alexander Povetkin -
No contract? - rumored to have an option with Matchroom uk
#7 Jarrel Miller -
Matchroom - DAZN USA & Sky Sports Uk
#8 Joseph Parker -
No contract? - rumored to have an option with Matchroom uk
#9 Kubrat Pulev -
Top Rank / Bob Arum / ESPN
#10 Dominic Brezeale -
PBC? - likely to follow Wilder given mandatory position.
Key Others with known affiliation?
Usyk - matchroom/dazn
Takam - rumored to have option with matchroom
Kownacki - Bob Arum/Top Rank
So, who has control / what matchups can be made or won’t be made at all?
If a new fighter or those not under contract have options where is it sensible they place themselves?
