Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: Katie Taylor Will Have At Least Three Fights In 2019

Katie Taylor is targeting unification showdowns in the new year after keeping hold of her world titles. The Bray woman was in action earlier this month at Madison Square Garden. Taylor comprehensively outpointed Eva Wahlstrom on December 15, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and on DAZN Stateside, and retained her WBA and IBF female lightweight crowns.

They trying hard for Katie but women’s boxing just doesn’t have that hype behind it. Unless the women are KO artist I don’t see hype or huge interest in them.

I'm a little confused about the Serrano fight. Isn't she fighting at much lighter weight division than Taylor?

Katie Taylor is the future of womens boxing. It sure as hell isn't Claressa Shields.

          amanda

Amanda is a sixth division world champion not 5. Her last fight was for WBO Jr. Welterweight which she won, and now is going down for 115 wbo world title on JAN 18, and then going up to 135 for the Taylor fight

There’s various problems with it, number one being that the level is just so much lower than men’s boxing.
I only tend to watch boxing matches where I know there’s going to be a high skill level (eg I wouldn’t bother with the Chisora/Whyte fight) so I’m certainly not going to watch women’s boxing where even the highest skill level is still pretty low.
I’ve nothing against women boxing but I’m not going to spend time or money watching it unless it’s someone that I’ve trained or is a personal friend.

That'll be getting off light. Eddie's got a lot **** cards with holes to fill and Katie always seems to fit the bill.

Yes! Bring it on. Female boxing is lit right now and Katie Taylor vs Serrano would be a great fight!

Yes, and Katie is massive for her weightclass.

Katie is not massive at the weight but persoon is at around 5ft 8 ins massive at the weight and with her backround, experience (40 or so fights) and fighting style could spoil the party for Taylor .
