I suspect that is what happened to adonis.....I suspect that when a boxer dehydrates the brains fluid is also reduced so when the dehydrated fighter gets hit....his brain bounces around the skull with no brain fluids to cushion the blows.

I have always and will always feel an unfair weight advantage is just as bad as fighters taking PEDs to gain an advantage.

You take a look at two fighters in the ring and you just know they do not belong in the same weight class.

That is just wrong and DANGEROUS.

But then again boxing is the Wild Wild West.

Askren had a compelling argument for piss for gravity/ hydration at the same time as weigh in. Just move the weight classes up 10 pounds (WW champ at 149 is still champ just WW at 159). This prevents the belts from being thrown up in the air all at once and transitions a fighters competitive edge from who can recover from a crash water weight cut better to who can walk around at fight weight for 6 weeks prior to the belt.

Exactly, I’ve seen fight cards where the co-main event can be 1 or 2 divisions below what the 2 fighters in the main event are fighting at, yet look much bigger than them.

              Friday: 3PM official weigh in

Saturday: 5PM, 2nd day official weigh in, where fighter is only allowed to be 5 pounds above the official weight, or less. If fighter is 6 pounds heavier, fight goes on, but 20% of his purse goes to opponent. If 7 pounds heavier, fight goes on, but 40% of his purse to his opponent. 8 pounds or more, fight is canceled. At 6PM, card starts. Main event fighters get in the ring at 9PM. No IVs are allowed between official 2nd day weigh in at 5PM, and start of main event at 9PM. Fighters must be in their dressing rooms under the surveillance of commission officials during this time. Restroom breaks are of course allowed but fighters cannot bring IV equipment into the restroom.

That would solve the entire issue. If you just have a same day weigh in in the morning, fighters will dehyrate and then rehydrate after before the fight. If you just have the weigh in a day before, fighters will dehyrate even more because they have extra time to rehydrate. The only logical solution is to have two official weigh ins. But if you're only going to have one, it should be right before each fight. If fighters had to weigh in 5 minutes before fighting, they wouldn't dehydrate themselves at all, and they would fight in their natural, healthy weight classes otherwise get hurt very badly. But having two weigh ins, one a day before hand to make sure the fighter is where he needs to be, and then a 5 pound cushion for fight night, gives more security to the promoters. That is the foolproof solution, nothing else. So why don't they do it?

They are implementing this because of Canelo. He walks around 200 and outweighed Fielding by 20-30 pounds.

Thid will never happen but the most fair way to do it is to weigh fighters 1hr before the fight. They have to weigh in below a certain weight otherwise they are fined heavily. All fighters will go up 2-3 divisions but there will be no dehydration and no mad weight cuts, fighters can just fight against people the same size.

Unfortunately, the weigh in part of boxing is massive and changing it means huge impacts on the sport and the fighters
