That's not good news.

Being in a coma is one thing but needing assistance to breath is bad news. To put it bluntly, you're almost as good as dead if that's the case in the sense if they turned it off now, he would be. The recovery rate for something like that is very slim.

That said, the doctors must have some hope of something or signs. Generally if there's no chance, they would basically tell the family there's nothing they can do by now, although that still might happen
