Comments Thread For: Hearn: Usyk Could Face Takam, Winner or Loser of Whyte-Chisora

WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is still expected to make his heavyweight debut in 2019. Usyk (16-0, 12 KOs) is likely going to be the 2018 Fighter of The Year - with unmatched accomplishments over a twelve month period. He gained impressive wins over Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev to unify the entire division and win the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament. And then he came back in November to retire Tony Bellew with a brutal knockout.

More like Whyte would be schooled and slapped silly every round.. the pace would just be too much for Whyte. Usyk will throw a thousand punches and land 300 of them. I still think Usyk should fight a giant to prepare for the top three.

Bodysnatcher by brutal knockout. Too big, too powerful for smaller fighters like Wilder, Usyk etc.

Good fights, but feel Usyk beats all of them handily.

I like Washington as the step up to HW fight. He is not a world beater, but is a legit HW and should give Usyk a fighter he can beat so long as he is serious, and a full training camp to get above 200 to see how what his body reacts.

Takem or Chisora for fight #2 would be legit. Than, a Whyte, Parker or Ortiz (I think Wilder/Joshua/Tyson Fury will be wrapped up for a while). By fight #3, he is a true HW or he isn't. But I think the first 2 fights need to be set up to give him the chance to rise in weight naturally.

38 year old Takam makes no sense for Usyk. It will be most likely the loser of Whyte vs Chisora.

Agree. Takam & Chisora are shorter than Usyk and Whyte won't take the fight because he feels that he is the WBC mandatory and has deserved to fight Joshua next. So someone like Helenius would be the right opponent.
