Korobov is a good fight for Charlo

All of you are sleeping on Matt big time. I'm not saying he's gonna win, but he's a much better fighter than Monroe jr. He was winning every single rd against lee until he was caught. His best win is against José Uzcátegui who is the 168 lb IBF champ who stopped direll. This fight won't be short notice either as matt was preparing for a fight on the undercard so he will be in shape. Very interested to see this fight. It's his best opponent by far. Here he is on the mitts. Looking good.

I agree and have said elsewhere it was as good of a short notice fight as one can get.

Although Korobovs resume of late has been awful...he does have some good experience like the uztecgai win...years ago.

Nonetheless I like this backup plan and think we may see a longer fight than what wouldve been the case with Monroe Jr

Crazy things happen in December especially when you grab fighters as a late replacement. This is how Sergio Martinez revived his careers vs Paul Williams when he stepped in for Kelly Pavlik after Joshua Clottey turned down the fight with Paul Williams. So yeah you never know, this is boxing anything can happen. I can see at the very least Korobov doing well early in that fight.

Said this since rumours of this fight surfaced. Course it's impossible to know what shape Matvey's in given how long he's been without a decent opponent and his age, but if he's anything like the guy who fought the green Uzcategui it's not gonna be an easy out for Jermall.

Always thought Matvey's biggest issue was that part of him was trying too hard to look good... maybe cos he saw Golovkin's growing popularity or whatever... when he just boxed he always looked good (though never as good as he did in the ams) but when he started looking for the finish or getting involved in fire fights he started to look vulnerable - fatally so in the Lee fight, even though he was boxing hell out of Lee up till getting stopped.

Problem Jermall has here is that if he just blasts Matvey out, everyone will point to Matveys inactivity and age, but if Matvey pulls out a good performance Jermall will probably get slated for struggling... regardless of the fact that Matvey was an absolutely elite amateur with first rate skills. It's a fight I would have thought long and hard about had I been managing Jermall.

                  Agreed.

Mall gets little to no credit for KTFO

Mall gets heavy criticism if Korobov shows up and its competitive

That's probably reaching, man, but it's till not impossible that Matvey can turn back the clock with a good performance. Those skills might be a bit rusty but he won't have lost them altogether.
