Comments Thread For: Baysangurov and AmirKhanyan Headlines Show in Kazan

In the main event, two unbeaten junior middleweights, Khuseyn Baysangurov and Aram AmirKhanyan will square off in a unique title bout that is about to culminate a total of three regional belts of as many major sanctioning bodies. Armenian-born, Russian-citizen AmirKhanyan (11-0-1, 3 KOs) is having the WBO International 154-pound title, while his Russian-born, Ukrainian-native foe, Baysangurov (14-0, 12 KOs) puts his IBF International and WBA Continental belts up for grabs.

Salesmen like Eddie Hearn could probably sell out Wembley in 15 minutes before fans could even realise Kell is not fighting Amir Khan, but Amirkhanyan.
Couldn't really complain since it'd be more competitive fight anyway.
Swap Kell Brook for Kelly Brook and yeah it’ll sell out

Yes that's a normal Armenian last name. For example, Robert Amirkhanyan, a famous Armenian composer.

Just advertise that such a fight will be booked and that both sides "have come to an agreement". Just to piss Khan off.

Armenians have a lot of names with ****** (Arabic, Turkish, Iranian) roots. -yan in the end is same as -son in Scandinavian names. So not surprising. Amir = military commander (admiral). Khan - Ruler.

Watched the fight live yesterday. Amirkhanyan won by a close decision. He was the better boxer with good footwork, had a big size advantage, and defended well - but got tired towards the fight end. Also, Amirkhanyan had very little on his punches. Bayasangurov was walking through direct hits and didn't look shaken once...
