Comments Thread For: Warrington: I Don't View Frampton as Elite, Has Weaknesses

Josh Warrington does not consider Carl Frampton an "elite fighter" and intends to exploit his weakness when the pair meet in Manchester on Saturday. The undefeated Warrington (27-0) will make the first defence of his IBF world featherweight title against former two-weight champion Frampton (26-1), who is considered the favourite.

There’s just nothing enjoyable about him from my standpoint. That Selby fight was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Don’t get me wrong he won the fight, just in the worst possible way

Worst possible way? Fighting dirty or exposing flaws in Selby? He did both pretty well.

Warrington needs to dial it down a bit.

He had his day in the sun against Selby and its gone to his head.

Even this version of Frampton is at least 2 levels above Warrington to be honest.

well hes building a case ofr being elite, he just hasnt completed it.

I'd say hes halfway there. The quigg unification would have made it 100% IF Quigg had been a real champion.

Fighting dirty. Wasn’t an enjoyable fight. Selby was well beaten though. When I think of that fight the phrase “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” immediately springs to mind. Was it a fight you enjoyed?

Frampton is definitely elite. He beat undefeated Leo Sant Cruz in his very first fight at 126 and beat undefeated Quigg in a unification at 122. If he beats Warrington that would mean he'd have beaten 3 undefeated defending champions all in their respective primes and would prove that Frampton still has plenty in the tank.

Would love to see him take Oscar Valdez's '0' too and I think that fight could be made.. LSC vs. GRJ in 2019 with the winner fighting Frampton/Valdez winner to truly establish the king at Featherweight. Doubt we'd be so lucky, though.

Kind of enjoyed it but i think that was because I’d never seen a fighter land so many clean blows to the back of their opponents head.
