Does he say why? I'd think the fights would sell well. The two options are interesting too - you have a charismatic up and comer in Munguia and a titleholder who's wasting his career in Ramirez.

Oscar did the same thing, "Not Fighting Any Puerto Rican Fighters Because My Wife (at the time) is Puerto Rican"

Also by fighting Chavez Sr, Oscar took a lot of backlash for that from the Mexican Fans, it almost ruined his career to be honest could be one of the main reasons why HE never fought Margarito


That being said, I'm not a fan of this though, what about a Jamie Mungia and if he works his way up to the top at 160 as well as other Mexican Fighters it is unfair to them

In other words-no Muniaga which is a fight many of us would like to see either next year or 2020. Also rules out Zurdo at 168, which I think would've been a massive event in Azteca.

How can you consider fighting at 160 and 168 yet rule out fighting either of these men?

With all due respect I don't think anyone really wants to see Mungia vs. Canelo anytime soon. Mungia vs. Canelo would be no different than Canelo vs. Fielding except Canelo would be fighting a smaller guy. Mungia is too raw and gets hit way too easily. Golden Boy was doing him a disservice by trying to match him up with GGG. The faster Canelo would be an even worse match up.
