The IBO has less recognition now than it did a decade ago. The momentum the IBO was gaining was killed dead by the WBA having two champions. Any need or desire networks/promoters/managers had for a fifth title was fulfilled by the WBA adding a second one. The IBO has never recovered from this.

Media coverage does not make you a legitimate sanctioning body. Recognition by the legitimate sanctioning bodies is the only way.

The WBC recognized the WBA back when they were the NYSAC and NBA respectively. The IBF came next and had to secure recognition from both the WBC and WBA. Then the WBO had to secure recognition from all three before it, WBC, WBA, and IBF.

The IBO is recognized by who? Exactly, they're a long way away from being the new WBO.

Boxingscene and the media are guilty of that too. And this isn’t just a Joshua thing, Wlad had that belt too and it gets mentioned at every opportunity. It is very annoying because we are trying to avoid any more trinkets. I still don’t recognise it, no matter who carries it.
