Jr. admitted later that he was weight drained and looking at his physique in the ring he wasn't making excuses. For crying out loud look at his energy level in the fight a nd general lethargy. I know he's not a speed demon but he looked horrible and it had little to do with Canelo.
Chavez Jr is the one who called out Canelo and he is also the one that said he wanted to fight Canelo at 164 when he called out Canelo after his victor to a bum on Azteca TVComment

Canelo has been fighting the best and I think he will continue to fight the best. I am ok with your list with the exception of Charlo. Canelo would get no rank with fighting a bum like Charlo. I would rather see him fight a David Lemuiex or Andrade instead of a Charlo. Charlo is always fighting bums and will remain a bum until he fights a guy like David Lemuiex, Boo Boo Andrade or the guy who punked him, Daniel JacobsComment

So you think Canelo should vacate his WBC title, to avoid fighting Charlo?
Charlo won a title at 154 and his first and only two defenses were against Trout (whose only losses were to Canelo and Lara) and the highly avoided J-Rock.
His second fight at mw was to become mandatory for the winner of Canelo-g II. That was his last fight against Centeno. Yea, turns out the reason Charlo fought Centeno is because that made him mandatory for Canelo.
A couple weeks after Canelo beat g, the WBC announced it was letting Canelo fight an optional next. The WBC instead ordered g to face Charlo in a final eliminator. g decided he didn't want to fight Charlo- knowing that if he did and won that Canelo would be ordered to fight him.
So, Charlo is fighting a top 15, typical everyday gatekeeper. This isn't a some Uber driver or cripple outside the top 30 (like Craw and Hurd's last opponents). This isn't some retired guy from a lower division. Monroe is a regular gatekeeper. The kind all top fighters face.Comment
