Unbeaten former 168-pound champion David Benavidez will appear in a 10-rounder against an opponent to be determined as the March 16 co-main event when left-handed IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence defends against four-division title winner Mikey Garcia on FOX (9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT) at The Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, near Spence's hometown of DeSoto, Benavidez's promoter, Sampton Lewkowicz, told BoxingScene.com on Friday.

What a shame. Just 21 and talented and already wasting his future by sniffing coke. Let's hope he overcomes this.

What amazes me is the relative ease with which Spence v Garcia was made, usually a fight reserved only for mailbags and mythical matchups.

Which proves to a certain degree that if two fighters want to get into the ring together (with this one jumping two weight classes) it can be done without the usual 5-year drag out, trash talk, excuses and finger pointing.

If he's not an addict, he'll be ok, still just a kid having some much needed off time in a demanding and punishing sport.
But if he's got the monkey on his back, the void in his soul then it could ruin him and a potentially great career.

Nice, as stated hopefully he keeps clean from now on.

So basically he's fighting Dirrell later in 2019? That fight was supposed to be the co-headliner of Spence/Garcia anyways I believe.

Looking forward to seeing how he looks. When on form he's the most impressive fighter at 168. Dirrell and then the Uzi/Plant winner would be a great 2019 for him.
