    Highly doubtful. The competition level will just not be high enough.

    Benny Leonard and Joe Gans are probably the top two with Roberto Duran being a popular choice for those that aren't as much into the early 20th century boxing. Duran's lightweight field was good, not great. I don't know if a Buchanan or DeJesus will be available for Lomachenko. The best he can do is dominate and be the best of his time which he likely will. Lomachenko is highly impressive but in an all-time historical sense factor in just how far ahead of their times Gans and Leonard were. They may be the two boxers in history furthest ahead of their times and their skills still hold up on film not to mention dominant reigns of more than 5 years in the one belt era.

    Lightweight is probably the deepest in history so a modern guy with the limited 2/3 fights a year maximum schedule and lesser talent pool just can't do it and can Lomachenko, who's already on the smaller side be as impressive as Duran at the weight? Carlos Ortiz probably should rate over Duran specifically at 135 because his competition was so great and he was dominant. The you've got Whitaker, Armstrong, McFarland etc;

    He's great and he's an obvious hall of famer who'd probably get in if he retired today but the history of the sport and certain divisions are so deep.

      Who cares about the little bum. He's not even P4P Top 50. Prince Naseem would KO him in R1.

        Many fighters didn't have the luxury of an amateur career back then so literally got thrown in at the deep end. Lomachenko obviously came out of the gates hot but you've got a guy like Benny Leonard who got thrown into real fights aged 15 and those losses went against his pro record.

        The learning curves were a lot different which is why it's not that much use measuring up wins and losses like a Mayweather fan. You've got to look at the real primes of the fighters when they'd developed.

          There is no such title as "best lightweight ever". Its subjective scifi child-like bs. So anyone can be the best lightweight ever in theory & therefore no one can be it at the same time. Its a bs concept.

            He is way behind the following fighters in terms of GOAT at LW:

            Ike Williams
            Roberto Duran
            Bob Montgomery
            Benny Leonard
            Carlos Ortiz
            Beau Jack
            Sammy Angott

            Lots of talented fighters whose legacy has been long forgotten, and Loma has not even come close to their accomplishments at 135, and likely never will.

                  welcome to the message boards. its all about the discussion. People have ranked things since the beginning of time. do think p4p lists are bs as well?

                    That doesn't make any of those lists since the beginning of time meaningful.

                    Yes & probably even more so cuz the whole concept is crazy "what if everyone was the same size who would be the best". If thats not the plot for a children's book idk what is.
