Comments Thread For: Thurman: I'm #1 at 147, I Hope To Show That With KO of Lopez

Undefeated WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith "One Time" Thurman returns to the ring after a lengthy injury layoff to defend his title against veteran Josesito Lopez on Saturday, January 26 live in primetime in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes from Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING.

If, big IF he can regain his old form then I actually would favor him to defeat Spence based on styles. He has seemed unusually opposed to a Spence match but I think his movement and ability to punch with power on the fly would be a problem for Spence.

Spence's best chance is with body punches. If Thurman can avoid that and he's still the same fighter he's probably the next best guy in the division behind Crawford.

Thurman can NOT prove he is Number 1 at 147 with Joseito Lopez, for him to show he is Number 1 at 147 he has to beat T. Crawford and E. Spence.

The only way he proves he's number 1 by beating Josesito Lopez, who's #34 in the division according to Boxrec, is if he scores a first round knockout via decapitation or disembowelment.

Nobody from 147 to 154 will beat Spence. Nobody.

Thurman should be stripped of his fake belt.

Josesito is a bum and not worthy of a title bout. Thurman is a clown also who talks but rarely fights but once every 3 years. Thurman is no champion but a boxing boring DUD.
