    Anyone know the story behind this? someone in the comments said they threatened his children if he didnt throw the fight

    Never heard anything about him being threatened. He was in rehab at the time of the fight and was diagnosed mentally ill only a few months after the fight.

      I recall something to do with symptoms of depression
      Apparently after that fight McCall went into a greater state of depression
      Remember watching the fight live and McCall did not look in his right state mind from the ongoing
      Was actually quite sad to see

        I always thought that it was clear as a bell that he was ordered to lose, perhaps in a certain way. He had to go along, but did it in his own way--making clear to all with eyes and a brain what was happening by refusing to throw punches.

          He was coming down on crack. Once reality set in that he wasn’t going to win, it was too much for him to handle.

            Besides making things clear by refusing to throw punches, there was another remarkable thing.
            Trainer Manny Steward, who was with McCall in the first fight, was now Lewis' trainer in the rematch!
