I think this is a fight for 2020. In my estimation Gvodyk has met his expectations with the Stevenson win after some performances were he looked bored. He'd looked incredible against Chilemba and Gonzalez and then labored in his next two. Bivol is going through that now after looking to be fast tracking to #1 then petering off a little with the last two displays. He needs a challenge.
I think Gvozdyk will fight and beat Badou Jack next year which he'll be forced to fight hard in and gain a lot from and Bivol will likely get the Alvarez-Kovalev winner and maybe he shines there. Hopefully one of them can get Beterbiev at some point too. Maybe Arum throws enough money at him for Gvozdyk? Seems he's a natural sell vs. Kovalev (should he win vs. Alvarez) given their amateur history.
I see Gvozdyk-Bivol for all the marbles by late 2020 or early 2021 in a hardcore fans dream fight. I'd be at that fight wherever it lands. The good thing is that there's plenty of attractive fights for both in the interim and far less political obstacles preventing fights.
