  • Comments Thread For: The Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury Result Wasn't Outrageous

By Michael Rosenthal - A colleague I respect was in mid-tirade over the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury scoring when I weighed in with my own score: 113-113. He instinctively and audibly scoffed, his way of dismissing any validity my opinion might have. He's not alone. Many angry would-be judges would place anyone who didn't score the fight for Fury in the same camp as Adalaide Byrd or C.J. Ross...

That's what I was thinking. With the knockdowns, Wilder won 4 rounds, not impossible to find 2 more rounds to give him for a draw.

Yep, Wilder quietly won a few of those early rounds. The first third of the fight is the part of the fight everyone talks the least about. It seems most only think of the rounds Fury was dominating in the middle of the fight & the 2 knockdowns. The early rounds are talked about the least but ironically maybe were the most important of the entire fight when it came down to it.

It wasn't. Deontay fought like shyt but to pretend it's impossible to give him a couple rounds outside the KDs is foolishness.

Precisely, fighters usually give up those rounds to collect data. On my card, Deontay's relative aggressiveness early is what secured that draw decision.

Very happy that some of us can sensibly agree that the draw isn't some kind of tragedy.

Another garbage wannabe try convince article

I lost 2 minutes of my life reading that shit. Michael Rosenthal, take that piece of shit article and shove inside the more obscure depth of your hole of your ass and stop pretending you are glad with the draw when in reality you are glad your favorite fighter don't lose.

113-113 is reasonable. 115-111 in Wilder's favour is not and thus it was clearly home cooking. It was obvious enough though... no way would an American Heavyweight Champion lose on the cards in America. Fury got the best result he was ever going to get there... a draw.
