3 Very good heavyweight fights in 18 months

    Joshua vs Klitschko
    Wilder vs Ortiz
    Fury vs Wilder

Joshua-Povetkin was a pretty decent fight too.

Regardless of the poor judging last weekend, the heavyweight division is in a good place, probably the strongest it's been in 15 years. All 3 of the above fights were very good fights of sufficient quality. Whilst I'll be the first to admit that this is far from the strongest generation in terms of ability, Fury, Joshua, and Wilder all have size and talent, and different styles which seem to mesh well together in the ring.

Wilder doesn't have the talent of the others but he's got that eraser, and most good heavyweight generations had THAT guy.

    You've got some decent/dangerous gatekeepers

Let's hope Usyk and some of the young prospects coming through can add to the mix.

Boxing's is at it's best when the big men are contributing

It will be awesome if Usyk does well at HW and can make for competitive fights with these other top guys.

I think the current top guys, their ability to fight long makes it a tough ask for Usyk. Wilder is probably a fight he could do well in but the problem is the height and reach advantage for Wilder to get his right hand home. Joshua might give Usyk some openings too, but he's improving and again the size difference, the ability to throw straight effective punches, he could get Charles Martin'd even though he's a much better fighter.

Fury is a terrible style for Usyk.

But I'd love to proven wrong, and I think he could beat a lot of fighters in the top 10 for sure. He should position himself to get fights with Whyte, Parker, Brezeale and those will tell us a lot about his prospects

Just outside of that time frame was Chisora v Whyte and within the time frame, AJ v Takam were good fights too, actually the former was exceptional. Add in the first Bellew v Haye, and it has been a bumper time for the division.

If AJ/Wilder/Fury happens and it would have been a terrific few years for the division.

Whyte vs Parker and Chisora vs Takam aswell. Wound me up after last weekend, having the US journalists saying the division had been revitalised. Been going along nicely in the UK, lots of good fights

Its the best shape the division has been in for 25 years when we had a dozen HW's all vying for the titles and providing some great fights.

Obviously im not saying this is as good an era but the next 2-3 years look like they could be great, about time.

I think we had some better heavyweights 15 years ago and the K brothers of 15 years ago would both KO anybody fighting today in my opinion.

The division was revitalised by AJ and before that, some top UK challengers. Obviously doesn't suit showtime narrative.

Decent fights but pale in comparison to many HW fights in the 60s-80s.
