Floyd Mayweather says his New Year's Eve bout with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa will be "all about the entertainment". The nine-minute exhibition in Japan will have no official winner or loser if it goes the distance, and Mayweather said at a press gathering at his training base in Las Vegas on Thursday that he was looking forward to the event as a chance to sample "something different".

Desperation. Rumor is Rizin is near busto. There biggest Asian competitor, ONE, is signing UFC guys left & right & will be announcing a US TV deal any time now. This seems like some attempt at catching the audiences attention & keeping Rizin in the game a lil while longer while they continue to search for ideas &/or get sardines & strawberry yogurt for the 20th stragight day.

And its also worth noting this Rizin guy is sketchier then mac & cheese being sold outta some guys trunk. This guy has fixed fights in his previous league, Pride. I don't think its outside the realm of possibility there is a plan for this kid to kick Floyd in the head & take a DQ for the potential of a meme that'll last for the rest of our lifes with Floyd getting KO'd, hurt or just kicked in the head.

I also think its possible Floyd is getting paid x mill & then y mill more when he throws the fight with some sorta vague injury or w/e.

Not saying any of this will happening, but none of it happening wouldn't surpise me.

There will be no competing sporting events on NYE. This will be alone in the way it is advertised and shown. It's also, obviously, pretty unique.

I still think Floyd and Manny rematch between June and August assuming Manny wins and goes without injury and Floyd doesn't hurt himself in his "exhibition"

My guess is that the exhibition is more for Floyd to see if he can still do it at a competitive level at all. He is after all 41-42 years old? No other sport has guys performing at high levels at that age...its a very short list (BHop and Lidstrom from hockey).
