He was the lineal champ 3 years ago but he lost it by not defending it. You can't expect to keep any title including lineal if you don't defend it for years. Ring Magazine is huge on the lineal BS. They just love that lineal champion stuff. Ring does NOT consider Fury the lineal champion anymore. Going in to the Wilder fight Ring had the heavyweight title vacant with AJ the number 1 heavyweight, Wilder number 2 and Fury number 7. For a true lineal champ Wilder and AJ must fight and the winner will be the real lineal champ. If Fury beats the winner of an AJ vs Wilder fight then Fury would again be the lineal champ. Right now nobody is the lineal champ.
